The World's Monte Carlo to be 'party island'?

Will it ever be finished?

Will it ever be finished?

Slowly but surely, work seems to be progressing on The World in Dubai. It fact by New Year's Eve 2010, The Kleindienst Group, who own six of the islands including 'Germany', have said that one of their sites will be ready to be The World's 'first exclusive party island'.

According to the development group, construction on the Monte Carlo island is set to commence in order to make the 415,000 square foot an exclusive 'adults only' party island complete with a beach (obviously), pool club, a fine dining restaurant and bar, a nightclub and a dedicated event area for private parties, weddings and corporate events.

"True Monte Carlo style"

Unveiling the island plans at the Dubai International Boat Show, the Kleindienst Group clearly indicated who the resort will be aimed at - the emirate's young yachting fraternity.

Josef Kleindienst, CEO of Kleindienst Group said, "“We look forward to seeing in the New Year in true Monte Carlo style, bringing The Heart of Europe to life and celebrating The World’s first exclusive party island.”

The group has been working on The World project since the beginning of the year when work commenced on their 'Germany island' with the building of a 20 villa settlement. They are expected to begin work on 'Monte Carlo' over the next few weeks.

Josef Kleindienst has often said he is keen to continue working on The World project despite the economic downturn in the emirate, due to the all-time low construction costs.

“Before crisis, construction companies didn’t even want to go out and touch these islands for below AED2000 per square foot. Now we can have the same work for AED500 per square foot,” he said.

Kleindienst originally purchased eight islands for the ‘Heart of Europe’ project, but decided to merge three of these into one large city centre style complex. The group's project is spread over the islands of Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Netherlands, St Petersburg and Sweden.

The World has long been the poster-child for Dubai World and Nakheel's financial woes, and thus far only the The Kleindienst Group are working on the massive archipelago.
