Sales and the 'Talent Magnet'

A lot is written about being a ‘Talent Magnet’, either as a company, or as President. It’s all good practice – listen, mentor, reward, provide clear goals and career maps. Good practice for the employer, but what about the employee?

unival® group – German multi-level security systems

unival® group is a Germany based group of companies with headquarter in Bonn. We are specialized in multi-level blast and ballistic protection technologies with both client customized high-end solutions from the following fields:

Intelligence - Explosive Detection / Night Vision/ Thermal Imaging/ GPS Tracking

Counter Measures - Digital Wideband Jamming Systems

Physical Security - Automotive, Construction and Personal Security

Improvised explosive devices (IEDs) have become the signature weapon of international terrorism as they are simple, cheap and deliver a disproportionate effect. IEDs cannot be extrapolated into anything other than a major threat to political stability worldwide. This tactic has been used by the Irish Republican Army in Britain, insurgents in Iraq and Afghanistan, the Medellin cartel in Colombia, Muslim extremists in Europe and numerous othher terrorist and criminal organizations.

Terrorist will continue to use IEDs to achieve their objectives. Various terrorist training manuals that are available in the internet show in great detail how to convert common chemicals into explosive and how to employ radio controlled improvised explosive devices (RCIEDs).

Detection of explosives and classification of an area or objects has therefore to be considered a vital part of strategic operation planning.

HEDD1® real-time explosive detection also for liquid explosives and weapons

unival group offers HEDD1 a handheld explosive detection device which allows receiving real-time information about the presence of explosives and weapons/ ammunition in a covert mode. The HEDD1 is the solution for which many security operators have been looking for. It works instantly, without the need of a fixed installation and can be used by any operator after a short training. The mobile system, which entered the market in October 2009, works on a patented Magneto-Electrostatic Detection (MED) method. Creating an active magnetic field, the HEDD1 is able to detect all kinds of commercial and military explosives, including PETN, TNT, dynamite, gun powder and also liquid explosives  such as TATP. As soon as an explosive is detected, the handheld system moves the integrated antenna in the direction of the source.

Covert explosive search behind barriers for improved access control scenarios Allowing long range detection up to 100 meters, the operator will receive important information without a direct contact to the controlled persons or object. HEDD1 will find explosive material behind any barrier such as steel or other substances, outdoing a body scanner. HEDD1 will even detect so-called body-borne improvised explosive device (BBIEDs), explosives that suicide bombers might ingest or insert into their body cavities.

The cost-effective system can be easily added into any existing security system, as it works complementary and maintenance-free without the need of a warm-up-time and with very short training intervals.

The integration of HEDD1 into current security structures will increase the security level immediately without creating additional disturbance or delay at access control. By using the detector from a wider distance or behind barriers, covert detection becomes possible, providing the identification of a terrorist without unmasking the system being used to do so.

HEDD1® is a great complementary tool for all exisiting explosive detection with K9 or vapor tracing methods, as strategic classification and proactive measures become possible within existing ressources.

DWJ1® smart digital bomb jamming

The protection of motorcades has become an increasing importance for governmental organizations, which requires the use of jamming systems in order to protect against road-side bombs.

unival group is introducting the new smart-jamming-systen DWJ1, which the first commcercially available high-end digital jamming system operated from the latest FPGA chip-technology allowing to individually programm the jamming system to threat scenarios in real-time.

DWJ1 - Digital Wideband Jamming System/ 20 MHz - 6.000 MHz

The DWJ1 jamming system has been developed with the aim to offer best possible protection against radio controlled IEDs. The system is offering a 100meter protection radius around the vehicle even under worst case scenarios instead of claiming unrealistic best case figures. With its software based active threat-detection mode the system can be operated in an active-standbye that will activate the system upon receipt of pre-defined frequency signatures, which makes it especially useful in any environment, where jamming has to be limited or is forbidden. The system can be operated in parallel jamming modes such as barrage, sweep, multi-sweep as well as hopping for highest jamming efficiency and also allows to program communication windows. The system output can be defined for the best possible results against any type of radio controlled devices in order to protect the passengers. Due to the modular design, the system can be continuously upgraded both software and hardware based for future threat scenarios and new frequencies.

On basis of the same technology unial group is also offering a portable, backpack based system called PWJ1®, which allows for real-time programming both by remote and notebook as well as the stationary version SWJ1®, which can be operated in buildings and can even be operated within network for both protection against RCIEDs as well as for communication jamming against eavesdropping.

With a maximum output of up to 365 Watt, the PWJ1 system is also available with an active-threat detection option that will allow to operate the system in the field for several hours on one battery charge. Weighing less than 20 kg and with a very compact design the PWJ1 is the new standard for portable jamming systems.

univision® - Night Vision and Thermal Imaging from unival group

unival is developing and manufacturing the latest generation of night vision devices which are designed and manufactured in Germany with a special focus to customized small series production for highend devices at a highly competitive price/ value level.

The new ultra-compact THR thermal imaging system, which will be available from Q2/ Q3 2010 allows even wireless transmission from the camera to a near-bye receiver for efficient law enforcement and military organisations during day and night, when searching for temperature related signatures becomes necessary.
