IEDs (Improvised Explosive Devices) have become the signature weapon of international terrorism, as they are relatively cheap and easy to manufacture. The effects created with such unsophisticated measures threaten public security and economic stability.

Protection concepts in countries such as Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq and others have often failed for the reason that stand-alone security concepts have been installed. The way to improve security is by installing multi-level security concepts with interacting complementary products.

Intelligence - HEDD1, Night Vision, Thermal Imaging and Tracking.

It is vital for any organization to have access to reliable information in order to develop a security concept or mission planning. For this reason the gathering of information is important for accurate decision-making. Explosive detection therefore has to be considered a highly important aspect in all security concepts, when operating in security related areas.

HEDD1 Handheld explosive detection for real-time and covert IED detection

unival group offers a handheld explosive detection device, which allows receiving real-time intelligence information in a covert mode. The HEDD1 works instantly, without the need of a fixed installation and can be used by any operator after a short training. The mobile system works on a patented Magneto-Electrostatic Detection (MED) method. Creating its own magnetic field, the HEDD1 is able to detect all kinds of commercial and military explosives, including TNT, dynamite, gunpowder and liquid explosives. HEDD1 will find explosive material behind any barrier such as steel or also concrete and will even detect so-called body-borne improvised explosive devices (BBIEDs).

The cost-effective system can be easily added into any existing security system, as it works complementary and maintenance-free without the need of a warm-up-time and with very short training intervals.

While night vision devices can be used to identify persons, thermal imaging devices can be used to detect heat signatures also on long-range during the day and the night. Our in-house univsion® research and development team can also customize special devices for clients in need for individual solutions.

Complementary to explosive detection and night vision, unival also provides tracking of objects either in form of small univision infrared tags or in form of GPS/ GSM tags such as the new unisis® VIPTrack and the high-end GSM/GPS/ RFID emergency tag that allows tracking of people with battery times of more than 1 year in any environment.

Counter Measures - Protection against Radio controlled IEDs (RCIEDs)

The protection against RCIEDs has become one of the highest priorities for governmental agencies and security companies. The use of digital jamming systems has become mandatory. unival group has developed three main product lines in this field: DWJ1® (convoy protection), PWJ1® (portable protection) and SWJ1® (stationary protection). All systems are fully digitally systems and have been developed in a modular system design and are fully adaptable to the required usage. The unival jamming systems are highly advanced in comparison to existing systems in performance, functionality and operability.

The DW1® system was specially developed for motorcade and VIP protection. The standard configuration from 20 - 6.000 MHz covers the main threat frequencies with an output power of more than 1000Watt. High attention is also given to EMV health protection of the passengers, which most companies are carelessly neglecting.

The PWJ1® and SWJ1® digital jammer lines represent the most advanced systems in their fields. While the PWJ1® portable jammer system provides up to 400Watt output power in a lightweight and compact form factor with digital power distribution the SWJ1® is a stationary system with up to 100Watt power output, which can be operated stand-alone or in a command controlled IP network.

All unival bomb jammers can be programmed and operated in real-time for best results. In addition our jammer lines can be also used in a SMART operation mode that allows detection of pre-programmed threat frequencies enabling automated counter actions in order to provide the best protection against communication based threats.

Physical Protection - Automotive, Construction and Personal Security

unival® is launching a new modular special armour-concrete container and housing series that offers full protection against military rifles, blast attacks up to highest STANAG levels but also adds fire protection as well as burglary protection. The highly flexible concept allows full customization in size and design as well as scope of usage, whether as guardhouse, basic or luxury residential application in any environment both over- and underground. Installation of all technical equipment can be achieved during production, allowing turnkey delivery and shortest installation times. All installed doors and windows can be fitted with a patented blast protection system that makes the unival security containers unique in its protection concept and its wide application potential. The system offers long-term value and multi-mission operability.

In Q4 2010 unival will launch its new perimeter security hydraulic bollard line that comes pre-fitted in an armour-concrete fundament providing highest impact protection that can be deployed in any given environment within 1 day. Both new unival armour-concrete product lines have been designed especially for organizations operating in high-risk environments, who cannot afford long construction or deployment times and who need modular, flexible but highest level protection.

For automotive protection unival manufactures passengers vehicles, both 4x4 and sedans in highest STANAG or CEN levels. All vehicles have been designed to withstand ballistic and blast attacks utilizing certified armour materials.
