Switchpoint heating is today a indispensable part of the railway equipment in countries with a winter season.

Switchpoints not working properly can hazard peoples life as well as cargo. Delayed transports are expensive for railway companies and a 100% working switchpoint heating is needed.
Switch points are getting  aller along with rising speeds for trains and power need increases bringing cost to its limit.

VELOX Switchpoint heating has been working at a method to bring energy cost for electrical rail heat to a minimum. By keeping rail in switchpoint at a temperature just above 0°C with a low power installed /m rail, which has proven economical compared with a high power installed /m rail combined with a snow melting system.

• Simple control systems with temperature sensor with on/off control.
• Remote control systems using a GSM/GPRS modemwith temperature sensors and fault alert by SMS to service cru and/or maintenance central. Set points and start/stop commands by SMS combined with snow sensor.
• PC-controlled thyristor systems with soft-start, loggingof consumed current, temperatures, fault detection etc. Fully remote controlled from PC with intranet / modem connection.

With a refined control system during season when snow and ice can hazard security in railway traffic combined with a remote control gives a high security and ensures function at it´s best.
Improvement of economy by getting log files for power consumption, current in elements or temperatures in switchpoint and environment for follow-up.

Alerts can be given immediately by SMS to maintenance crew for any error in system, System can be completed with webcam for visual surveillance.

VELOX SWITCHPOINT HEATING SYSTEM are based on self-limiting and constant wattage flexible elements possible to deliver in length up to 25 metres with a power up to 360W/m rail with only one feeding point. Double insulated elements without braiding covered with 1m long stainless steel profiles easy fitted to rail with spring steel clips, gives a reliable application.

The system has a smart power-junction with quick connectors at leads moulded I neoprene rubber for water proof easy installation and service (IP68).

Combined with ORIGO MEGAPOINT computer controlled power distribution, heating can be maintained and supervised from distant location.
