Established in 1976, the Wagner Corporation is a German Based Fire Engineering company with its own international representation in United Kingdom, Europe, Asia and the Middle East, with over 300 employees.
Wagner Germany is certified to ISO9001 and ISO9002 by the German regulatory authority VdS as well as the British regulatory authority LPCB.
The company supports its own research and development facility at the German headquarters in Langenhagen, Hannover, a city in the Lower Saxony region of Northern Germany, developing specialized fire protection systems and related products for industrial and commercial applications. It’s many branches and subsidiaries provide life safety and asset protection concepts around the globe that incorporate in-house and third party solutions.
Successful developments have been recorded for a wide range of Industrial, Intelligent, Air Sampling Smoke Detection Systems, which boast applications ranging from total clean rooms (chip technology) to road traffic tunnels and industrial processing such as waste disposal plants.
A more recent success in Wagners R&D portfolio is the innovation called OxyReduct®.
OxyReduct® is a fire prevention system developed to protect mission critical or very hazardous enclosures. Such locations could include anything from a Data Center, a State Archive or a chemical storage warehouse.
This very unique development utilizes the outside air as a medium from which nitrogen can be extracted. The nitrogen is then fed into the enclosure to be protected, resulting in a predetermined reduction in the oxygen content within the closure to a concentration at which the subject material can no longer combust. Very often, this level is well above the minimum level considered safe for human access and therefore personnel may still enter the protected area at any time.
As design engineering consultants, Wagner has performed for many of the worlds leading corporations from telecommunication providers such as WorldCom and KPN Quest to Chemical Manufacturers such as Wacker Industries and Power Generation giants Preussag. Wagner has also served much of the petroleum industry in different parts of the world.
In many countries, Wagner subsidiaries or partners provide turn-key solutions that extend from complete system design, to installation and maintenance management. In others, Wagner provides fire engineering consultancy services that include peer review services, full engineering design & specification, project management, risk assessment and fire safety management training.
The Middle East head office was established in the United Arab Emirates at the Dubai World Trade Centre in June 2001 and is headed by the author, a Senior Fire Engineer with more than
30 years service to the Wagner Corporation.
State recognition of fire engineers as a professional entity in recent years in the UAE led to the Middle East office, Wagner Fire Safety Management Consultants, being the first state licensed fire engineers office in the U.A.E. supporting the goals of the Ministry of Interior UAE, to uphold the highest level of safety in building design and performance.
In June 2004, Wagner Fire Safety Management Consultants established a second fire engineering center in Dubai that would introduce state of the art fire modeling and 3-dimensional, virtual reality design practices into the UAE market.
Offices have also been established in the Emirates of Abu Dhabi and Sharjah, allowing Wagner to offer it’s wide range of fire engineering services at key locations throughout the country.
The new offices offer job opportunities to national and international engineers from all scientific disciplines, promoting sponsorships for national engineering graduates to follow latest fire engineering educational programs while working.
Affiliated to organizations such as the NFPA, (national fire protection association) SFPE (society of fire protection engineers) & IFPO, (institute of fire protection officers) the objective of the UAE office is to promote Fire Engineering as a dedicated profession, and to build a professional business platform for the Wagner Corporation in the Middle East region.
This has been accomplished so far by contributions to fire engineering design, implementation, fire protection design reviews, risk & hazard assessments, fire incident investigation and integrity testing on a variety of projects throughout the region including the UAE, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and Iran.
The Wagner offices in the UAE have been consulted by authorities throughout the region on many fire & life safety issues with particular involvement in the modernization of detention facilities in the Middle East.
The UAE offices provide codes and standards interpretation, building design reviews, prescriptive & performance based fire protection designs, engineered system specifications, project management and emergency procedure development & training services.
Wagner also works closely as a fire engineering consultant with some of the regions oil & gas companies, conducting on & off shore risk assessments and fire safety audits.
Wagner has been involved in the design of special fire protection solutions on projects such as Bulk Liquid Storage Farms, Fodder Production Plants, Hotels, Resorts and Exhibition Complexes, Data Centers & Server Farms, Cold Storage facilities, Royal Palaces, Holy Mosques, Museums as well as State Energy Supply Commissions, and Air Traffic Control Facilities.
With a wide range of competence in fire engineering disciplines, Wagner are able to offer expertise that will enhance the standards of safety and performance of buildings and building complexes that mark the expansion of the Middle East region as it grows into an important Industrial and Commercial hub, providing the best standard of safety and security for the public and investment sectors.
