Cost-efficient switchpoint heating

Refined control is the keyword in many economic areas today. Heating buildings as well as industrial processes consumes excessive amounts of energy and difference of one degree in temperature at a mall or office building costs thousands of dollars a day. Heating obstacles outside when not needed are even a bigger waste while heat will just go up in thin air at no use.

Switchpoint heating is needed at to ensure safe passage of trains during winter season.

In many countries the need of heating rail only occurs a few days per year but never the less a poor control system will bring costs for heating to a high amount just to ensure that when snowfall or ice storm occurs trains will travel safely.

With a refined control system sensing weather as well as temperature at rail you can bring energy consumption to a minimum with maintained safety.

• Using Switchpoint Heating AB's control panel, heating systems can be monitored and maintained over the internet by accessing the system computer.
• Values can be altered, logs of temperatures, power consumption etc. can be viewed or downloaded.
• Error messages can be sent by SMS to alert maintenance personal for rapid correction if fail will occur.

We are constantly developing our system trying to improve function and cutting energy consumption with maintained safety. This together with our systems flexibility brings users possibility to influence system construction to suit their own system at perfection.

Using flexible elements (70-180W/m rail) with double non conductive outer jacket brings a big advantage when installing, elements can be made up to 25 meters in one length with one feeding point.  

With elements installed on both stock and moving rail this brings power up to 720W/m Switchpoint, using double elements at part around switch rod and single elements at the rest energy consumption can be minimized.

To improve function even more switchgear rod heaters can be added covering switch rods and keeping it free from ice connected by quick junction at the end of the flexible heaters.

At installation elements are covered by stainless steel channels bringing protection against mechanical damage and good heat transfer to rail.

Installing made easy by readymade elements with a plug-in system IP-68 (waterproof down to 5 meters depth) with a threaded locknut to ensure water proof connection at all times. Power is supplied to elements from a 4-way power distributor molded in rubber with 4 x 1m cables for elements and 8meters 8-core cable to hook-up to cubical.

Construction brings down "time in track" at installation and maintenance of switchpoint heating minimizing interference with traffic.
