TIMCO celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2009, having been set up in 1989 in Al Ain, UAE, as “body builder” for Commercial Vehicles applications. The company’s early years saw it providing a limited line of such “bodies” to the local Chassis Dealerships, primarily in the UAE.
The pivotal change occurred in 1995, with a decision to gradually move towards a line of locally engineered and built “value added” products to the highest international standards. Our policy was and continues to be to focus on Firefighting Units, Ambulances, Coach building Units and Specialist Tanks.
To facilitate and then sustain this, there had to be a commitment to invest in all the “components” needed for such a long term plan.
TIMCO’s Integrated Management System, the foundation for which was laid in 1995 with ISO 9001 certification, today includes certification to ISO 9001:2000 for Quality Management, ISO 14001:2004 for Environmental Management and OHSAS 18001:1999 for Health and Safety Management. This “IMS” also covers not just the requirements of the standards but other management related functions so that it genuinely drives all facets of the company’s operation. This commitment to Quality Management manifests itself in the company having a dedicated, full time Manager for this system reporting to the General Manager of the company.
It should be noted that where a particular product requires specific adherence to a specific international standard, this is covered both in the Engineering of the product, as well as incorporation of such standards into our Engineering references.
The commitment to Quality Products is manifested through all the company’s aspects. The Engineering Department, responsible for the detailed design, jobs and materials instructions of each job, boasts specialist engineers in Electrical, Hydraulics and Interior Decoration, to supplement the 6 Mechanical Design Engineers. The Engineering Department also runs a separate unit for Development of new products and innovation of existing products. Design Validation is an inherent part of the Engineering process.
Our Quality Control process has 4 dedicated engineers to track materials and production processes, including stage and final testing, and then the Commissioning of the product once delivered to the client and/or end user, operator training and warranty help.
This client/end user interface is part of our After Sales services, which also include a unit dedicated to Spare Parts stocking and sales.
TIMCO’s staff is now 150, of various nationalities, and there is continual evaluation of the Training needs of the staff in view of new products and processes being introduced into our operations.
The commitment to Quality Product as given above also covers a commitment to using only the best international equipment in the finished product. For instance, our firefighting units are primarily produced using components from Albert Ziegler of Germany. Our Vacuum Technology products are primarily produced using components from JUROP of Italy. We are dedicated to the use of only the best materials, equipment and components in all our products.
With such in-depth commitment to Quality, TIMCO has been able to develop its sales over the years; having expanded and consolidated our sales in our home country of the United Arab Emirates, TIMCO has developed substantial and continuous sales in the Sultanate of Oman, Qatar, Bahrain and Iraq. TIMCO’s products are also sold to Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Syria, Yemen and some African countries.
We are proud that we have made and maintained this commitment to Quality Product and Service and gratified by the support and loyalty of our clients in responding to this commitment.
TIMCO offers the end users the flexibility of working as a sub contractor, mainly to the local and regional Chassis Dealers, or as a main contractor, providing the agreed-upon chassis in the process. We work with all the Chassis Dealers and Regional Offices, each as applicable for the particular product. Regardless of which structure is ultimately followed for the sale, the TIMCO commitment to End User/Client support is fixed and, we are proud to state, often goes beyond the call of duty!
TIMCO does not offer a “standard” product.
Each product is evaluated, offered, engineered and built to suit the client’s specific operational requirements and budgets, and incorporating the client’s specific choice of brands of equipment.
The range of TIMCO Firefighting units includes a large range of Municipal and Oil & Gas applications. By definition, each is unique in terms of design, capacities, configurations, equipment and materials used and the chassis it is mounted on. Units delivered and in use range from Water Units, Foam Units, Powder Units, Rescue Units, or any combination thereof with or without accessories.
We also supply Crash Tenders built on Commercial 4x4 or 6x6.
TIMCO was a pioneer in offering local conversion of Chassis Cabins to Firefighting Crew Cabins and have converted the cabins of most European and Japanese brands both to specific EN and other International standards. Indeed, “Cabin Conversion” has now expanded to cover conversion of Chassis Cabins to non Firefighting vehicle applications.
The Firefighting range also includes support vehicles such as Rapid Intervention Units, Rescue Units, CAFS units and such like.
Those are also designed, built and specifically equipped locally by us to the highest international standards.
Our client and end user range for Firefighting products include Civil Defence, Oil & Gas and Civil Aviation authorities, as well as Military and Police authorities.
Serving the Government Emergency Services, Armed Forces and Police, as well as Hospitals and Clinics, TIMCO’s Ambulances follow either EN standards, American KKK standards or are built to “local” requirements, each as applicable. Again, each is fitted out with specific brands as stipulated by the client at the outset.
We have recently introduced a number of “Off Road” Ambulatory applications in response to client requirements, as part of our continual innovation and development.
Emergency Services, by definition, also require a number of other support units. We were only too pleased to respond to client trust and requirement and commenced building Mobile Clinics, Mobile Command and Control Unit and Disaster Units.
We have also innovated this line to build the “bodies” as extendible, using hydraulics, to expand the body once it is parked to offer a much larger internal space. Such units have been built both on Trailer and on Rigid Chassis configurations, and continue to be well received by our clients.
This innovation was driven by our Coachuilding unit, which combines, to produce the final product, the use of various materials and applications: Steel, Aluminum, Fiber glass, Wood, Interior Decoration, specialized hydraulics and electrical work, plumbing and specific equipping.
The unit has also built a range of Mobile Homes each with specific interior decoration and configuration. Other support vehicles and trailers built within this unit include Mobile Kitchens, Mobile Showers and Mobile Toilet Units.
Primarily to serve municipal services, TIMCO Vacuum Technology products cover Vacuum Tanks, Jetting Tanks and Combined Tanks, with a range of configurations and accessories.
Our other products to the Oil & Gas sector include not just Fuel Tanks, in a wide range of configurations and applications, but also skid mounted Mobile Fuelling and other ISO tanks, as well as Liquid Sulphur Tanks. We had recently begun sales of Refueling units which we are now developing to reach a wider client base.
Our Tanks section also produces a range of configurations of Water Tanks.
While TIMCO has branched out its Product range and its Client base, we continue to also offer a limited number of other products to our long standing clients;
For the vehicles logistics sector we build car carriers, as well as recovery units, both for light and heavy duty vehicles (Wreckers). We also maintain for those clients our lines to produce Tippers and Cargo bodies.
But TIMCO’s focus in its marketing, engineering and overall Management System is focused on the continued development and innovation of its value added products to offer to our local clients a locally built product to the highest international standards.
